In the past I've read Poe's best-known stories like The Black Cat, The Pit and the Pendulum, or The Raven, but for the currently running horror round of classics lovers I chose, apart from The Masque of the Red Death and my beloved The Raven, stories that were unknown to me.
The Angel of the Odd was great, how the main character didn't believe and ended up paying the full price for it.
Eleonora is about love in a beautiful valley that couldn't last forever... or could it after all?
The Oval Portrait about a painter who painted life itself but lost his beloved because of it.
A Descent into the Maelström, which is very thrilling.
However, since we're finally dealing with horror, the huge discovery for me was Berenice, which is unbelievable and I can warmly recommend it. It is deeply disturbing to the point that chills ran down my spine, and even though it's clear where the ending is heading, it was excellent. I've already read it 3 times and I'll gladly keep coming back to it.
