All These Bodies, 2021
Annotation:
It's the summer of 1958 and the American Midwest is being plagued by a series of strange murders. The victims' bodies are found without a single drop of blood, and there's no blood anywhere around either.
In September of the same year, Marie Catherine Hale is found in the middle of the massacred bodies of the Carlson family. She is covered in blood, but the blood is not hers. She decides to tell her story to Michael – the son of the local sheriff. Can the budding journalist figure out what happened? How did this girl end up among the dead bodies?
Unfortunately, right at the beginning I have to say that I'm not enthusiastic. The beginning was interesting, it had a nice start, but then it went downhill and the ending was also disappointing. It seemed to me like a sketch of a story that wasn't properly developed, a kind of unfinished mess. I didn't form any connection with the characters, for me they were too flat, underdeveloped, a story without atmosphere. The only plus is that the book reads well.
Rating: 2*/5 (at least two* for readability)
