Great second installment in the series, and as much as I enjoyed the first one, I enjoyed the second perhaps even a touch more.
The duo from the first book travels to the town where Madison lived, and more than one secret is uncovered.
Madison is not only searching for her son but also for who put her in prison and why.
We meet new characters, and not all of them are good.
The central duo also stumbles upon a murder that has currently shaken the entire town. Although it's quickly classified as a possible suicide, we find out everything. In the local amusement park, the body of a young girl is found with slit wrists. Did she really take her own life, or did someone help her do it?
The installment is packed not only with suspense but also with emotions, and I even got some touching moments.
Madison is the main character here; everything revolves around her past, her family, friends, and also enemies. How hard it is to return to a town that sees her as an outcast, a murderer. Trying to clear her name is not so simple, and people don't forget.
I liked how everything was explained. I also liked that the author wasn't afraid to open up topics like depression, rape, drug issues, or a not-so-nice family background.
For me, an excellent installment, and I'll soon dive into the third.
I was reading along with Zdenička @knizku.kafe.a.klid, but yesterday I got so engrossed that I couldn't put the book down🤗😆
