After a long time, I dove into a new Czech detective novel and I got lucky.

I took to the main pair of investigators, they were likeable to me. I liked the overall conceived and assembled story and a big plus for me was that I didn't figure out the killer.
The surroundings of the Příbram region where the story takes place are beautiful, wonderfully described, and I got so tempted that I'd love to go there in the summer.
I was a bit looking forward to a mysterious detective story, where the water sprite theme was great but not utilized.
I appreciated that the book doesn't contain over-the-top action scenes, nothing was unnecessarily heightened, and thanks to this the story was more believable.
The fact that I read the book in one afternoon shows how much I like the author's style. I was curious how it would all turn out and I couldn't put the book down. I didn't find any dead spots, the plot is great, well-mixed suspense and the ending is explained. The characters are well described, we also get a glimpse into the past and an interlinking of relationships.
I would really love a film adaptation.
I warmly recommend it.
