Original title: Cross Her Heart
"I have your word, do I? Everything will be fine again,
we'll run away together and no one will know where.
On the road to freedom, just you and me together,
you gave me your word, so let's go, my love..."
I've already read Behind Her Eyes and I'm slightly torn about the ending, but I also really liked it for its originality.
Silent Lies pulled me into the story right away, I read it within a few hours because I enjoyed it so much that I needed to know how it would end.
The book revolves around the secrets of three women, who are the focus of the whole story. Tragedy, danger, deeply buried memories, a terrifying past, and also one promise that was not kept.
For me the book worked great, I devoured every part, the chapters are from the heroines' perspectives as well as from the past.
I really liked that everything was clarified. I enjoyed the dynamics between the characters, the constructed past, all of it fit together for me. At times almost terrifyingly dark and crazy.
I can warmly recommend it.
