I enjoyed the reading immensely. The short stories are close to my heart, it's one of the books that introduced me to literary horror in my youth, and that's why I chose it for the current round of "my personal classic" in #klasikomilove
Some I didn't recall at all, such as the great The Cloak, which immediately won me over and I had a great time with it.
The Summer Guests scared me even more than twenty years ago, and this time was no different. An older couple decides to extend their stay in a beautiful area where they go for the summer, but the stay takes a serious turn for the worse and tension rises.
The exquisite Chef's Specialty still has its punch even after years, I also liked the Czech film adaptation. Be sure to read this short story.
The classic The Birds is different than in the film, but it can scare you brilliantly.
I didn't remember the short story The Little Murderer, but I enjoyed it very much. A mother suspecting her baby of not entirely good intentions.
Ringing about newlyweds, a honeymoon, and a peculiar ritual taking place at their destination.
And lastly, I'd like to mention a short story that I liked back then on my first reading, and that is the story It Was a Demon. About one summer, a group of related children, and one old demon who poses as an uncle. The adult world vs the children's world and a disgusting demon who demands fresh meat. The story is disturbing with a perfect atmosphere.
I warmly recommend this collection, I enjoyed it and I believe you will enjoy it too.
