His presence causes tension and the unexpected opening of a still unanswered question. Anna and Tomáš begin to unravel a forgotten story of a family from the end of the war, and through it they get ever closer to their own stories, which until now they have somewhat deliberately overlooked. They search for answers, yet keep finding only more questions. How will the story, set near the baroque landmark of Kuks—where the sculptures of Matyáš Bernard Braun and their symbolism play a major role—turn out?
A pleasant book with which I rested very nicely.
I enjoyed glimpsing into the fates of the heroes and the supporting characters.
In the book we can follow Anna, who doesn't quite get along with her mother, and Tomáš, who has an unresolved past and prefers not to uncover it because it causes him great suffering.
Their visit to Kořenov, with a slightly detective-like plot, mystery, the search for a hidden treasure, uncovering the past—all of this awaits you in this book.
As the cherry on top there is Kuks Castle and especially the mentioned statues of Virtues and Vices by Matyáš Braun. While reading, I got a tremendous urge to set out on a trip and properly look at both the castle and the statues.
