TA NÁDHERNÁ VĚC, JEŽ NA NÁS VŠECHNY ČEKÁ

In the book we find 9 horror short stories, each of which caught my attention in its own way.
We have a nice variety here, where we are served demonic stuff, folk horror, western horror, cosmic horror, we meet witches and also ancient ones.
Barron draws us into terrifying forests or strange regions.
I really liked the author's storytelling style, in some stories almost psychedelic. It's great how he can work with atmosphere, no quick cards on the table, but he handles the reader with a slow, creeping dread, where you first start to have a nicely unpleasant, oppressive feeling, you just don't know from what. He's able to pull you into the story so much that you experience fear and helplessness right alongside the main characters.

I'd like to mention which stories I liked the most.
The very first one, Blackwood's Baby, is quality folk horror that won me over.
A nice ghost story, The Redfield Girls, with a melancholic veil.
Nicely atmospheric Hand of Glory... I mean, the Carrion Gods in their Heaven.
The excellent Scar.
Men from Porlock, won me over again with their suspenseful atmosphere, their dark forests and similarity to Blackwood's Baby, where a bunch of guys you wouldn't want to meet even at noon set out to hunt and somehow the situation changes and the hunters become the prey. I like the various superstitions in the stories. This was a great short story.

I'd like to mention the beautiful work of the Gnóm publishing house, the book is beautifully crafted, has a pleasant font and the graphic side is polished - check out the totally awesome barcode.
