I'm not afraid to say that this is probably one of the longest books I've ever read. In terms of page count, it's slightly longer than King's It and a bit shorter than Under the Dome.
It took me a week to read it and it's really a proper King ride.
In a post-apocalyptic world, the eternal battle of Good and Evil takes place.
I liked the characters a lot. I grew fond of many of them, even those who weren't positive but had quite troubled fates.
The book is readable even though its length might put readers off, but don't worry about that at all, something is always happening and it makes you read on and on.
It's true that for me some passages were really too drawn out (committee minutes) but I was always looking forward to the action that followed.
I would have welcomed it if some characters had a bit more space and I would have taken some passages shorter, but the book held my attention.
King is a Master of storytelling and The Stand is definitely worth reading. I'm glad the book came into my hands and already, after that week of reading, I'm starting to miss the characters.
