Stories set in school environments where different cliques form have always entertained me. When you throw in an old cult, in which entire ancient high-ranking families participate, it's even better.
Hunted Prey is a YA thriller with a good plot. The introduction presents the main heroine and important supporting characters, and then we head off to a manor, where these bloody sports really get going - hunting, shooting, and fishing.
An interesting addition are various references to movie scenes, many of which I recognized.
I enjoyed the story, the gradual revelations, and how the outsiders came together, as well as the nicely open ending, since this is the first installment. The characters develop nicely over time, and I liked the division of castes into the so-called "Medieval" ones, who clung to old traditions at all costs, and the "Wild" ones.
The tension in the book is built up gradually, little by little, and we also encounter interesting topics such as bullying, modern technology, social media addiction, and so on.
Even though I'm not the target audience, I liked the book, I enjoyed it, and it was a great relaxing read for me.
I hope the remaining four installments will be released, I'd love to read them.
Many thanks for sending the book
