Just finished reading the book The Society, which saved my whole perspective with its ending.
It took me a long time to read, but it wasn't because of the translation, which is great. It was because of the characters — I didn't really love the central couple. They didn't grow on me at all, I kept wondering why they didn't just move away, which probably crossed the mind of every reader of this book.
At the beginning and for a fairly large part of the book, you can't really tell it's a horror, only gradually does everything darken.
I really liked some passages, as well as various peculiar characters, like Stump.
The situation in the town gradually escalates, the tension grows.
The story has a really nice creeping atmosphere and I was curious about what was actually going on there.
The ending is great, I must admit that thanks to the ending, my enthusiasm for the book rose considerably. It was breathtaking, properly horror-like and yeah, in the end I'm satisfied.
If the author releases another book, I'll gladly read it.
Thanks for sending it
