SPÍCÍ PRINC

SPÍCÍ PRINC

I like retellings and Sleeping Prince is gathering quite positive reviews here, so I was quite intrigued.

What I liked were the almost horror-like scenes, which worked great for me in the first two-thirds. The main character didn't particularly irritate me, and I also enjoyed the side characters and their fates.
I liked the brief poetic passages and I really enjoyed the bits of fairy tales contained in the mysterious book.

However, after two-thirds, I see a problem in that it started to feel to me like the author was running out of steam.
I don't know if it's because of the length of the first volume, or because of some, for me, either gaps or strange behavior of the characters, but it really started to limp.
Everything was suddenly too much for me, similar, repetitive, and where there had been magic for me before, it started to become boring.

I believe that in the next installments everything will somehow become clearer, but from the enthusiasm when I was reading until half past two in the morning!!! that hasn't happened to me in a long time, after finishing it I'm not as enthusiastic, and at the moment when the prince finally appears, the moment I was really looking forward to and thought would be epic, well, it wasn't..

The idea about the fairy-tale lineages, the curse, the magic that's supposed to return, the legend about the prince, everything as a package sounds fine, unfortunately I'm not jumping for joy, but if we get more installments, I'll probably read on to find out if there will be a happily ever after after all and with whom.
