Today I have a huge recommendation and I can finally also use the hashtag #knihyzakteremuzeoldrich because I read this one on the recommendation of Olda @zanicenyknihkupec and thanks for that, the book is great.
I was surprised that I haven't really seen it anywhere here, even though it's an absolutely great story without any dull spots.
The characters are so well portrayed and you feel like you really live with them, which is why it was so hard for me to leave them.

I wouldn't want the two main heroines as friends though, I alternately felt sorry for Roach and was terrified of her, because this not particularly likeable character is twistedly fascinating and when compassion for her sweeps over you, you immediately backpedal because she does something you wouldn't come up with in your wildest imagination. She's obsessive, possessive, deranged, lonely, misunderstood, doesn't fit in, but she's also a liar, a manipulator and a first-class stalker. The scenes where she visits the apartment reminded me of my favorite thriller While You Were Sleeping and I reminisced about César, but he was a lot more demonic and did a lot nastier things.

And Laura? I really enjoyed gradually watching her fall apart, even though at first glance she looked problem-free, self-aware and self-confident, the opposite was true, her living situation gradually fell apart along with her. I felt sorry for her.

The other characters were again very entertaining and a great choice of setting, the bookstore was great, the situations believable, I often thought yeah I experienced that too when I worked in a store, nerves at Christmas, tons of questions from customers, some people don't know how to behave.

The ending was wonderful, unexpected and the cherry on top. I highly recommend it, give this one a go.
