I love folk horror and three cheers, this one is great. I enjoyed the book immensely and I have to admit, I was reluctant to leave the main characters.
I enjoyed the setting and the well-portrayed characters, and I was genuinely delighted by the ending. I noticed the book is classified as a mystery thriller, but for me it's folk horror through and through.
I really love stories about lost children, and in some parts of the book I was scared, chills ran down my spine. The author's style is great, engaging, and smoothly draws you into the story.
The mythological storyline really clicked with me and I loved it, and the description of the setting, people, and nature was perfect. And the dog Imbus was the cherry on top, and I probably don't need to tell you how terribly anxious I was that nothing would happen to him.
I highly recommend it to everyone, great read and hats off to the author, I'm extremely glad that this beautiful book was born in our little Czech pond.
