If we started talking about what scares people, among other things I can be totally thrown off by that unpleasant feeling when you don't know what's under the surface. I love water, I really love swimming, it's hard to lure me out of the water and I prefer natural bodies of water the most, but woe betide if something brushes against my leg in the water and I bolt at astronomical speed.
Sacculina is brilliant, terrifying, you squirm reading it and wonder what's coming next.
All sorts of aquatic/marine thingamajigs work great on me, and even though the book is slim, it doesn't hinder the story's power.
Great character building, you'll root for them until the end, even though it's clear to you this isn't a good day for fishing.
Captain Ron entertained me incredibly, a great character.
What is almost a family trip for some easygoing fishing slowly turns into a fight for bare survival in deserted waters on the open ocean, where there's not a living soul.
A big plus is the excellently chosen setting, which practically offers no easy escape, and watch out you don't fall into a trap.
I can 100% recommend this book, it's great and you'll devour it in one breath.
