I was very much looking forward to The Fisherman. I didn't look up anything about the plot in advance, I wanted to be as surprised as possible. When I first saw the cover, I really liked its gloomy atmosphere.
The sentence on the cover "jaws of Lovecraftian horror" can be a bit misleading and slightly confuses the reader, to me it reminded me of Lovecraft partially, mainly with its more drawn-out pace of storytelling, which I love about him. Here it suited me perfectly, I didn't feel at all that the story was stretched out or lengthy. On the contrary, everything fit together into a perfect whole.

And what is it about?
It's a very powerful story about love that knows no boundaries of space or time, about love beyond the grave. What is one capable of doing in order to turn back time and be again with the one who is no longer here. It's a story about the loss of loved ones, mourning, loneliness, longing and hope.

From the very beginning the book moved me very much several times and that repeated throughout the reading.
The book is divided into several parts, so that in the end it joins together into one grandiose finale.
The character of the Fisherman is far from entirely positive, due to his actions, but for a moment I was thinking how nice it would be if he actually managed to defeat his prey and finally find peace in his heart.
I enjoyed it incredibly, I savored every paragraph, the legend of the Fisherman, the whole setting, the main characters and their sad fates, it was excellent.
It won't be a story for everyone, but I believe that you who take on The Fisherman will not regret it. It's a story that will get under your skin and even though it's been X days since I finished reading it, I still think about it.

Because this was probably my last buddy read of this year, thank you so much for getting into it with me❤🥰
