I love any story revolving around wolves, whether it's a retelling or a book with facts about wolves. When I first saw the cover of Red Wolf and read the synopsis, it was clear to me that I had something to look forward to.

The cover is truly gorgeous, beautifully done. The story isn't long and moves along at a decent pace.
The characters are likable and the romantic line doesn't get in the way at all.

It has momentum, the "legacy" that falls on the main heroine's shoulders is explained and the dilemma she faces is well described.
The central character has a tough decision whether to choose love or duty.

This isn't a classic retelling, I'd say it's more of an inspiration, where not everything is as it seems. The author writes in a very readable way and her story can keep you glued to your chair. I believe that, just like me, you won't want to put the book down until you know the ending.

I really liked how a dark forest came to life before my eyes, where various terrifying monsters move and lurk in the shadows. Where you're not sure what's waiting for you behind the nearest tree.
This book has a good dose of darkness in it, especially the second half swings from carefree reading into a nice drama.
Of course, the book isn't without flaws, sometimes I would have slowed the pace and played more with the story, but I enjoyed it and although the ending is, you could say, closed, it still invites a sequel. If there is one, I'll happily dive into it.
