Just finished reading the hot new release by S. K. Tremayne, Just Before I Died. Honestly, I didn't want to leave the story and I clung tooth and nail, well, with my eyes, to the last paragraphs, I liked the book so much.
What was it about the story that got to me so much? The beautiful, gorgeous landscape, where nature is lush and on the hillsides you can see Dartmoor ponies running unbridled and free, racing with the wind, where sheep graze in the meadows and where nature has not yet been conquered by man. The descriptions of Dartmoor National Park are so vivid that you feel as if you were there. And I know that when someone someday asks me where I'd like to go, it will be exactly there, to Dartmoor.
It's the third book I've read by S. K. Tremayne and even though I really enjoyed both of the previous ones, this one is absolutely top for me. The story is at times dark, scary, even horror-like, incredibly captivating and gripping.
Yes, there are at times quite harsh descriptions where something unpleasant happens to animals, which wasn't easy for me, and especially one scene at the end got me to a state where I was crying like a turtle, yet it's one of the most captivating books I've had the chance to read and I will remember it for a long time.
