The author's debut, which caught my eye with its cover.
You can't deny the book's readability or suspense, I also enjoyed the characters. The main investigator, who was attacked by the villain, was likeable to me.
I enjoyed the insight into her life.
The story isn't anything I haven't read before, but the book has pace and keeps the reader engaged.
Critical corner:
After a while, the length started to bother me, somehow I felt I wouldn't mind shortening it by a hundred pages and, as they say, wrapping it up faster.
But the main stumbling block was the villain himself. His imitator didn't interest me at all, but the arch-villain himself, who was supposed to be demonic almost like Hannibal Lecter, oh no, not that. Whenever proclamations about Lecter start appearing on books, it already smells fishy to me.
The only similar thing was that the investigator knew the killer from the past, who is sitting in the slammer, and she goes to consult with him, to find out if he knows who is imitating him.
But no, no, don't touch Lecter for me, I don't know if I like him more because of the book or because of the masterful acting performance of Anthony Hopkins, whom I love.
In any case, this gentleman in this book bored me, he definitely didn't scare me, I didn't care about him as a character and he didn't evoke anything in me.
Will I read the next installment? - if there is one, then yes. I liked the characters and they were likeable to me (except for the villain).
Anjelica as the main investigator is great, I enjoy the insight into her life and her team was also excellent.
The book, although it has its dead spots, was nice as a whole.
