I read The Bone Houses in a buddy read with @knihomolka.janca and others.
A really nice fantasy-horror bite-sized read with great characters and a goat you'll love even when she's - let's say - undead.
I figured out a pretty crucial thing fairly quickly, but it didn't bother me at all. The story is refreshing, imaginative, with an interesting theme and at times an almost poetic feel.
The theme of family and the death of those we love is handled very nicely here.
The journey, the dark forest with reanimated corpses, the hidden abandoned kingdom, the dangerous mine - overall the setting was great. As for the romantic subplot, it was presented in an understated way, and Welsh folklore is also very nicely woven in.
