The Last Time I Saw You
I have previously read the book The Last Mrs. Parrish by Lynne and Valerie Constantine, which I really enjoyed and was thrilled with.
Unfortunately, my enthusiasm did not repeat itself here. Right from the beginning I had problems with the characters, I had a harder time getting oriented among them and I only sorted them out to my liking quite late.
The plot wouldn't have been bad and the perpetrator occurred to me quite early on, which made it all the more surprising that I guessed correctly.
I wasn't able to grow fond of any of the characters, on the contrary, the main character irritated me incredibly, and several times I felt like slapping her. She was too whiny for me, constantly complaining, easily offended by everything, selfish, hysterical and very self-centered. It annoyed me how easily she was influenced.
Well, the resolution unfortunately wasn't any wow for me either.
For me, the worst part was probably that I wasn't worried about the main character, I couldn't fully immerse myself in the story.
What can't be denied about the book is its readability. Once I finally figured out who was who, I was curious about what would happen, but unfortunately this book didn't work for me.
On the book cover you can read that a gripping (I'm not sure) story awaits you, where there is no shortage of lies, scandals, obsession and revenge, which, except for the description of gripping which I cannot confirm, the rest fits.
For an undemanding reader, or for someone who wants more of a relaxing read with suspense, this is probably ideal.
Above all, please those of you who, like me, love The Last Mrs. Parrish, don't expect an equally good book, I think you would be disappointed.
