This book was a bit of a tough nut for me, I finished it almost a week ago and I wanted to let the experience sink in a bit and sort out my thoughts.
The idea is nice, the whole mysterious aspect was interesting. The book read well but I had a big problem with the main heroine, her behavior and thoughts often drove me absolutely crazy. For example, as soon as something happened where I could even put myself in her situation and understand her, she would immediately totally change it with some thought or approach of hers, where I felt like banging my head against the wall. She was really unbearable at times, I didn't understand her.
The other characters were quite flat and when characters I would have wanted to know more about finally appeared, it still didn't happen.
For me, from the second half on, the book was very predictable. The only part that was worth it was unfortunately short.
The atmosphere is really brilliantly conceived. As soon as the central duo set off on a cycling trip, the author cranked it up and a beautifully oppressive, creeping atmosphere rolls over the reader. At the moment when I felt something was wrong, I literally got goosebumps.
But this only lasts a moment and that's a great pity. I would happily have stayed at the farm longer, I would have appreciated an explanation of what was hidden behind the locked lock.
Then began the part that was predictable for me, which read well but didn't entertain me as much.
What I liked was definitely the chosen location and I immediately looked up what it looks like there. I was on vacation in Luhačovice with my parents as a child.
I was pleasantly surprised that at the end of the book you find a QR code that takes you to a game following the trail of the main duo.
For me it's about average, the main heroine is a no for me, I couldn't stand her, the mysterious part is great, the second part is predictable, the rest of the characters are flat, I didn't form any relationship with them.
Rating: 3*/5 for the plot
🙄🤬For the main heroine it would be heavily in the minus, I haven't experienced such an unbelievable ..... in a long time. While reading I was loudly and unrestrainedly cursing at her. 🤬😤
