The day after finishing and I'm slowly returning from the mysterious corners of Šumava, where neither nature nor the land forgets, and where you must be careful when the fog starts to fall.

I love various legends, superstitions, tales and stories about mysterious places. I also love folk horror and here I got a hefty dose of everything.
I had an incredible time being entertained and scared, and I also felt so beautifully wistful and sad.
I take my hat off to the incredible gift of storytelling that the author wields; the story burrowed under my skin and still doesn't want to leave.
I grew fond of the characters, even the negative ones, and I was fascinated by the gradual revelations and twists toward the end, where I watched in fascination, wondering what just happened.
It was great how some passages managed to really scare me. I looked up photos of what it looks like around Křemelná and watched videos of waxwings so that while reading I could imagine the sounds they make. At first I didn't know what such a bird looked like and I thought it might be a small black one, but the lovely waxwings are very beautiful and light-colored.

Of course, I fell in love most with Květa and Jack and rooted for things to turn out well for them, but whether they managed to find their way out of the mysterious places where time stands still or goes backwards, where space intermingles and the dead walk again among the living, that you have to read for yourselves.
Another character I won't forget and who deeply touched me with his story is grandpa Šinágl, who loved his home so much that he never wanted to leave it. I still have his apple orchard before my eyes, and the fog is slowly starting to brew again.
"The dead don't want to leave from here, the living can't. Who is who, none of them knows."
