The last February book I read is The Nest from the Old school horror edition, which I'm really enjoying. I love horrors with various animals but also insects, which are even much scarier for me, because I'm quite disgusted by piles of leggy thingies.
Here it hits a peaceful island with peaceful long-time residents and newcomers. And what kind of disaster is bearing down on them? At the local dump, originally ruled by rats, another species has taken over, which even managed to mutate and started craving food other than what belongs to it.
Ooo it was a ride, let me tell you. Hordes of sinister man-eating cockroach beasts that think and evolve. It was great, I was rooting for the people and not even a tiny bit for the cockroaches.
Some scenes were almost amusing for me, but during some I didn't feel good at all, especially the one where the boat Škopek with the children from Sunday school is shipwrecked during a storm and when they briefly rejoice that they are safe on the mainland.. Whoever has read it will know, and the rest, if you have the courage, go boldly into it.
The film The Nest was inspired by the book, where to my surprise there are many changes, the names of some characters are kept but it's different though no less entertaining, and the cockroach-soothing mutant is really something 😃 Whoever likes these films, go boldly into it.
