Les contes de Charles Perrault
Anyone who knows me knows well how much I love fairy tales, and so I couldn't miss out on the bonus in the group #klasikomilove
I've had French fairy tales for years, my grandmother used to read me from this book when I was a little tot. We can find both well-known and lesser-known tales here, though many will surely be surprised that we don't always get happy endings.
These are the original, fairly drastic and sometimes almost horror-like fairy tales in which one can always find some moral lesson.
As a child, I was really scared of the illustrations, which are very specific and can even be unsettling.
And yes, I also have my favorite one here, which carries the message that excessive curiosity doesn't pay off, and to put it briefly, "don't go where you shouldn't".
It was a beautiful return to childhood and for a moment I was once again a little kid hidden under a blanket, looking forward to grandma sitting down next to me, taking the already-old book in her hands, and starting to read.
