I'm glad it was the Elementals who kept me company on Halloween. I couldn't have chosen better, they're great.
I grew incredibly fond of a handful of characters and I already miss them, I felt good with them.
The book reads itself, it's gripping, the characters are excellently developed, and what also caught my attention was the place around which the whole story revolves.
During some scenes, chills ran down my spine, it was fantastic.
The book is said to be one of the best horrors of the second half of the twentieth century and I can only agree.
The tension is nicely dosed and reasonably escalated. The evil is creeping and you never know what form it will take next, it has slept for a long time but is ready, hungry for more new victims. It's also very intelligent and inventive, it can fool you in no time.
So watch out for the sand and go read it.
