I love various myths, legends, folklore, ghosts and demons, and when I saw that Czech Demonology was about to be released, it was immediately clear to me that it would be exactly for me.
The author presents us with a dozen ghosts and demons along with a heap of interesting facts and stories about what each ghost did and where, in which town it caused trouble, or, on the contrary, helped. We can also learn how to behave if we cross paths with some ghost, how to protect ourselves, or even how to get rid of it.
Did you know that the Hejkal can transform, for instance, into a hollow stump, or that the Divoženka, besides kidnapping children and replacing them with her own, can not only do harm but also help?
The book is beautifully designed and you'll find truly lovely illustrations in it.
I really enjoyed the stories from towns and villages, and what touched me most was probably the tale of the fext, who finally got to marry his beloved (who by that time was already an old grandmother).
I warmly recommend the book and I believe you will like it as much as I did.
