A pack of seasoned canine guardians known as the Wise Dogs sets out on a mission to rid the Pennsylvania region of seemingly unrelated supernatural phenomena, including, for example, a fire salamander and a swarm of mutated lurkers. Gradually, however, it becomes clear that all these mysterious occurrences inevitably lead the heroes to a mountain settlement inhabited by a group of people who worship the enigmatic "Bloodlord," whose presence attracts occult forces and thus threatens to flood Burden Hill with a new avalanche of evil!
The unconventional canine heroes in this volume were jointly created by Evan Dorkin (Milk & Cheese) and Ben Dewey (The Autumnlands).
I again very much enjoyed another story about the Wise Dogs, a great storyline with the fire salamander, an at times humorously eerie atmosphere, and wonderful four-legged main heroes whom I love very much.
I really enjoyed the new adventure of the Wise Dogs.
I liked that the story was cohesive. The squad of four-legged main heroes went through some changes, but that didn't bother me at all; on the contrary, it's a refreshing change and I liked this distinctive bunch.
An entertaining, gripping, bloody, dark, at times humorous, and above all — for me — incredibly original comic with great heroes whom you'll root for, some with fingers crossed and others with paws (for example, our pack really cheers for them).
Once again, I can warmly recommend it and I'm very much looking forward to the next installment.
